On-chain data has shown that the number of Bitcoin wallets holding a minimum of $100 is gradually heading towards an All-time-high (ATH). Leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance reported that wallets in this category surged 25% this past year, from 24 million in January 2024 to nearly 30 million in 2025. Bitcoin Wallets Follow 2017 And 2021 Trend The Binance report noted that the trend reflects the massive influx of new participants into the crypto market. In hindsight, this also suggests increased interest and optimism for the flagship digital currency amongst investors. Such occurrences are not abnormal in the crypto sector, specifically during the bull run season. The crypto sector saw a similar incident in late 2017 and 2021. After the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved spot Bitcoin ETFs in early 2024, the coin hit an ATH around the middle of the year. This triggered a spike in Bitcoin wallets holding $100 or more. Bitcoin Price Surge Past $100,000 Bitcoin has surpassed $100,000, as it trades at $104,929.22 . At this price level, it is logical that many investors would want to take a share of the growing price action of BTC. This does not negate that many may be investing due to Fear of Missing Out (FOMO). Significantly, institutional adoption of Bitcoin is on the high side, attributed largely to BTC ETFs. US Spot Bitcoin ETFs Records Milestone Most investors, especially those on Wall Street, are exploring spot Bitcoin ETFs as a less risky option. In return, these funds have recorded a sizable growth in their net inflows. In less than one year of launch, ETF holdings went as high as 1.25 million Bitcoin. Out of these holdings, BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) boasts $50 billion in assets. It was reported that US-based spot Bitcoin ETFs are about to surpass a major milestone , with cumulative net inflows reaching $39.94 billion since their launch. The surge in inflows coincides with President Donald Trump’s second-term inauguration, which has renewed optimism among pro-crypto advocates.
